FloQuip participated in the Stone Energy Gumbo Cookoff on September 26, 2013. See below regarding the money raised during this fun event.
What an amazing and fun Stone/United Way Gumbo Cook off last week!!! The gumbo’s were great, Wayne Toups was great, and most importantly everyone had a safe fun time!!! What more could we ask for??? How about a record breaking $165,000 raised!!!! Almost double last years’ total!!!
I cannot begin to express my gratitude and pride for each of you for volunteering, advocating, cooking, and attending the best event I have ever had the pleasure of being a part of. We had a 64 total Sponsors, with 10 Platinum Sponsors and hundreds of volunteers. With 100 teams this year, I am certain we had the best gumbo’s in Acadiana, the United States, and the entire world. I personally tasted many and can honestly say all were great. While we only had 7 gumbo’s awarded a plaque, all 100 cooking teams and gumbo’s were a winner last Thursday night.
If you have ever spoken to me about United Way of Acadiana, you would know how passionate I am about what we are trying to accomplish. With a focus on Education, Earnings, and Essentials, I am confident the programs and partnerships that they are engaged in will support those in need, provide more opportunity for our communities children, and help working families achieve financial independence – all of which makes Acadiana a more prosperous, healthy, and vibrant community for our families to live. I recently attended a UWA Board meeting where we reviewed our progress and efforts in Education. I’ve attached a copy of the summary for your review – I think you might be surprised and hopefully impressed with what they reported. For me, this brings home part of why we need to continue to raise money for and support the UWA.
In closing, thank you again for everything each one of you did to make this a truly awesome event!!!!
